BAC Calculator
Estimate your blood alcohol content from drinks, weight, sex and time — with a time-to-sober timeline and legal-limit reference. Plus a second tool for bacteriostatic water (BAC water) peptide dilution. Educational estimates only — never drink and drive.
⚠️ Educational estimates — actual BAC varies. Never drive after drinking.🔧 JS ⏳ · Input — · Result — · Engine ⏳
📊 1 standard drink = 12 oz beer (5%) · 5 oz wine (12%) · 1.5 oz spirits (40%)
📈 Your body eliminates roughly 0.015% BAC per hour (one standard drink per hour). Time above is an estimate — real elimination varies.
🚦 US Legal Limits Reference
| Driver | Legal limit (all 50 states) |
|---|---|
| 21 and over | 0.08% (0.05% in Utah) |
| Under 21 | 0.00–0.02% (zero tolerance) |
| Commercial drivers (CDL) | 0.04% |
🧪 Common quick pairs: 5 mg + 2 mL = 2.5 mg/mL → 0.25 mg dose = 10 units (0.10 mL) on an insulin syringe. Bacteriostatic water is sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol for multi-dose vials — this calculator does the dilution math only and is not medical guidance.
How BAC Is Estimated — The Widmark Formula
One US standard drink contains about 14 grams of pure alcohol. The formula divides that alcohol across your body water — distribution factor r ≈ 0.68 for males, 0.58 for females — then subtracts roughly 0.015% per hour of metabolism. Example: a 170-lb male, 3 drinks, 2 hours: (3 × 14) ÷ (170 × 0.454 × 0.68) = 0.0802 minus 0.03 = ≈ 0.05% BAC. The same drinks for a 130-lb female yield ≈ 0.08% — body composition matters enormously, which is why identical drinking produces different results.
The time-to-zero figure simply divides your current BAC by 0.015 — a 0.06% reading takes about 4 hours to reach 0.00%. Coffee, cold showers and food slow absorption but do not speed elimination; only time does.
Approximate BAC by Drinks and Body Weight (Males, 2 Hours)
| Drinks | 100 lb | 140 lb | 180 lb | 220 lb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0.05% | 0.04% | 0.03% | 0.02% |
| 2 | 0.10% | 0.07% | 0.06% | 0.05% |
| 3 | 0.15% | 0.11% | 0.09% | 0.07% |
| 4 | 0.20% | 0.15% | 0.11% | 0.09% |
| 5 | 0.25% | 0.19% | 0.14% | 0.12% |
Subtract 0.015% per additional hour after drinking begins. Female values are typically higher at the same weight due to lower body-water distribution.
BAC Water Dilution for Peptides — How the Math Works
Reconstituting research peptides follows one rule: concentration = peptide mg ÷ water mL. Add 2 mL of bacteriostatic water to a 5 mg vial and you have 2.5 mg per mL — so a 0.25 mg dose is 0.1 mL, which is "10 units" on a standard 100-unit insulin syringe. The calculator converts your desired dose into both mL and syringe units automatically. Typical dilution choices: 1–2 mL for small vials, up to 3 mL for 10 mg vials when a more dilute (easier-to-measure) concentration is preferred. Store mixed peptides refrigerated and follow your source's handling guidance — this tool is the arithmetic only, and nothing here is medical advice.

Important Notes
- BAC estimates can be wrong: food, hydration, medications, drink strength and individual metabolism all shift real readings. Never use an estimate to decide whether driving is safe — if you drank, don't drive, full stop.
- Elimination is roughly linear: about 0.015% per hour for most adults — two strong drinks can take 3+ hours to fully clear, longer than most people expect.
- Impairment starts before 0.08%: reaction time and judgment degrade from the first drink. 0.08% is a legal threshold, not a safety line.
- Peptide dosing: double-check mg per mL before drawing, use sterile technique, and follow your prescribing clinician's instructions. This calculator does arithmetic, not medicine.
- "BAC water" vs "BAC": two unrelated terms sharing letters — bacteriostatic water for injection, and blood alcohol concentration. That's why this page carries both calculators.
